Annmarie Selected in the 2009-10 Australian Women’s Squad.

Hard work has paid off for Demons Catcher Annmarie McLaughlin who has been named in the 2009-10 Australian Women’s Squad that will prepare for the Women's World Cup in 2010.

Battling with a broken thumb that was sustained on the first day of the Women’s Nationals in Geelong over Easter, Annmarie is currently at the Queensland Baseball Academy under the watchful eye of High Performance Program Manager, Luke Prokopec. The academy trains four times a week and even though she is limited at the moment with her injured thumb, Annmarie still takes part in what she can.
She has also been asked alongside another QLD player to play Baseball in Japan for 6-7 weeks and compete in the Japanese Women’s National Championships, leaving on 25th June and returning 13th August.

Once back from Japan, Annmarie will be back at the QBA until that finishes up in early September and then off to the Australian Women’s Training camp in either Sydney or Melbourne in late September or early October.

Congratulations Annmarie!

BRYCE IS OFF TO THE CAL RIPKIN WORLD SERIES

Huge Congratulations go to Narangba Demons Under 14 player, Bryce Collins on his selection in the 2009 Cal Ripken “A-Roos” Baseball team

Bryce was put through his paces against players across Australia and will now take his well earned place in this National Team that will compete in the 2009 Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Maryland USA, from the 15th – 22nd of August.

He was a member of the successful Narangba U14 Div 1 team who were Minor Premiers and Premiers in the GBL 2008/09 season and a member of the Brisbane North Little League team.

Bryce has been playing baseball since Under 8s and he feels so fortunate to have been part of the Narangba Demons and to have been given such a good grounding in the game.

For the last two years Bryce has felt especially privileged, to have had Coaches Troy Pannunzio and Jason Leigh and an excellent group of team mates who have challenged him to do his best.

Bryce’s selection in the Australian team is a credit to his talent and commitment to the game and an achievement he should be very proud of. Many previous Cal Ripken representatives have gone on to play for Australia at higher levels including the prestigious World Baseball Classic and 18 former players have since embarked on professional baseball careers – so this could well be the beginning of bigger and better things to come.

CONGRATULATIONS BRYCE!

Congratulations to the six Narangba players who were part of the Brisbane North Little Leage team that competed in the BQ Little League District Tournament at Beenleight April 17, 18 and 19.
Bryce Collins, Blake Rowe, Carter Bell, Jarrod Flood, Braden Lockyer and Dallas Wakefield played well and athought they were part of a very young team with not a lot of tournament experience they fought hard in all games and really came together as a team towards the end showing a good future for Brisbane North.
