2 IN A ROW FOR DEMONS LITTLE LEAGUERS.

On Saturday 20/02/2010 Narangba entered a club team to contest the 2nd U12 Club Championship for the 2009-2010 season.

Having won the previous Championship in November 2009, the pressure was on this team, going in as favourites, to perform up to their last success.

The team started the day against a team from the host club, Indians and after a huge batting performance by the whole team and strong pitching by Carter Bell and Matt Green, we ran out winners 18-5.  The next game against Redlands once again saw strong batting set the platform for another good win 11-1. Our 3 pitchers, Carter, Dallas Wakefield and Joshua Coleman gave up one hit each. The teams final game was against a strong team from Wests, but once again our pitchers were up to the task of doing their job. Dermot Fritsch started giving up 2 hits and Dallas coming on to shut out the game for a 12-3 victory and once again the win and Champions again.

The team showed great baseball skills, both with the bat and in the field. A highlight of the tournament was their encouragement for each other and their good sportsmanship. A delight not only for coaching staff and parents but also being acknowledged by several opposing coaches.

Our team for the day was Hamish Woodgate, Ryan Collins, Jayden Spinks, Kent Jozefowski, Duane Johannsen, Matthew Green, Marcello Polifrone, Jarred Flood, Dermot Fritsch, Carter Bell, Joshua Coleman and Dallas Wakefield.

Special thanks to all parents for their support in getting the guys down to Runcorn so early, thanks to Bob Bell and Jeff Coleman for umpiring, Michelle our Manager, Scorers Pauline and Luisa and Coach Darrin Flood.  A great effort and result for all involved - congratulations and well done!!

Who Said Girls can’t catch?

Congratulations to the Narangba Demons Girls selected for the 2010 “Friendship Games Series”

Cate Leesman, Madeleine Wilson and Bronwyne Chalkley from The Narangba Demons have been selected by Baseball Queensland to represent Queensland in the Friendship Games in Sydney over the Anzac weekend at Blacktown Olympic Stadium.

Cate who is no stranger to high level baseball is joined by Madeleine and Bronwyne both from the U14 Demons side. Cate is joined by Madeleine in the U16 and Bronwyne in U14 sides.

What is it about Narangba and “Catchers”?

Madeleine selected in her first year as a Baseball Catcher, and Bronwyne showing her skills at First base and Pitcher has now also donned the Catchers gear and is catching really well.

Word is that the U14 side will, after Development Squad duties are finished, be coached by none other than our very own Anne Marie McLaughlin while the under 16 side by another Australian representative Lisa Norrie.

The Friendship Games Series introduced to showcase Female Baseball talent is in place as a transition to higher levels in Ladies Baseball. The 2009 series was a huge success and this year is even bigger as more States compete.

The series will be 6 Games in each division over 3 days with teams from around the Nation in U12, U14 and U16 all competing at the Australian Olympic Diamonds at BOP Sydney.

The Friendship Series and the Development Squad initiative commenced in 2009 and are now recognised as a pathway to the Aussie Hearts Teams, a ladder to higher levels and to promote Woman in Baseball.

Girl Power                      Cate Leesman, Cyclone Bronwyne and Maddi 'The Morderator"

Queensland Coaches are Kevin Johnson, Lisa Norrie, Karina Sexton, Ann Marie McLaughlin,
